Ho Ho Ho!

We had a great Christmas this year. Eve was spent with both grandparents at my parent's house. Christmas day was spent at both grandparents house, brunch mine and dinner Michael's. Addie was again spoiled rotten. I can see that Decembers are going to be a very good months for her.

We went to Hawaii

Our moms watch Adelaide and we don't pay them, therefore we decided to take them to Hawaii as a thank you for all the help they give us. It was a great 9 days. The weather was awesome after tantrums thrown by both Michael and meself on day 2. We visited all the little towns (Lahaina was my favorite), went to Mekena Beach, played in the water, hiked a mountain, and ate some yummy fish tacos. Adelaide was in bed by 6:30pm nightly, allowing us time for nice sit down dinners at the condo.

All the ladies together, and yes my mom does have a black eye.

Chasing my walker down the beach

In true Hawaiian spirit

Dawn looks terrified in this photo

Just trying some sand. She never did a whole mouthful so that was good.

Mikey watching one of the many amazing sunsets we got to see nightly at the condo.

These photos are from Adelaide's Birthday night. She turned one during our visit. Dawn's friend Candy was on the island and joined us for dinner and brought a book for the birthday girl. She is now into books thankfully. I still cannot believe a whole year has passed. It makes me sad/happy that she is growing up, but its hard to see my baby go. There is no crawling anymore, she is all about walking and is getting quite good at it. I cant wait to see what year two brings.

1st Thanksgiving

Life is good for The Gits family right now. I no longer have to bring a pump to work, Addie is eating foods without reactions and took to whole cows milk without issues. Thanksgiving was low key and relaxing and spent with my in-laws. Yay for the holiday season!

Here is a photo recap

I love this time of year. We have quite the weekend ahead of us. A visit to Santa at Storybook Lane is first on the list. I cannot wait to take Addie here. I think it is going to be so special to share it with her. Saturday we have a little birthday party planned for her. We will be in Hawaii on her real birthday. Only 12 days until then!

Walking Walking Walking

This is only a short display of how good she has gotten in the last week. At one point she walked all the way across my parents living room to Bum-Bum and gave him a kiss. It was the curtest thing I have ever seen.

Friday I gave into the television for the first time. I am pretty sure that both grandparents have let her watch TV at some point, but I felt guilty about letting that happen on my time. However, after an hour of annoying needy-ness from her I gave in. Yo Gabba Gabba stopped her dead in her tracks. Thank you OnDemand for providing me with commercial free options even if they are insanely creepy.

Saturday Mike and I had a nice day-date while Adelaide spent the afternoon with my parents. Sunday we went to a little surprise bridal shower for a friend. She was a great baby the whole time, and never freaked out about random people holding her. I really love having such a social baby. It makes life much easier.

11 months old!

Adelaide took 7 steps this week. She is kind of a big deal! She also went to bed on Sunday night and woke up with two new teeth. That equals a total of 8 teeth now. She enjoyed her first piece of toast with cream cheese in celebration of said new teeth. I am becoming much more positive about her food intake. Wheat posed no problems, so I think a birthday cake is going to be totally fine. I am really looking forward to the celebration we have planned for 12/3/11, and have ordered a few gifts that I cannot wait to give her. A mini baby jogger might be on its way :-)

1/2 Marathons and Roseola

Sunday 10/23/11 Katye and I completed our first 1/2 marathon. We trained together for 12 weeks, and finished in 2 hours 15 min. I set a goal to complete this before Adelaide turns one, and am so happy that its over! Running 13.1 miles is intense and does not make me want to run 26.2. Those people are crazy!!

Now, on to the Roseola. Friday afternoon I noticed a little rash staring on Adelaide's face. In the evening at bath time it was all over, so I called the pedi who said to watch it and take her in the following day if it looked worse. Saturday we took her into the local Zoomcare office. The doctor there was really nice, but ruled out roseola and didn't make me feel any better after telling me she takes her kids to the emergency room all the time! Sunday afternoon she still had it so I planned to take her in Monday to the pedi's office, where the doctor walked right in, looked at her naked body, and said it WAS for sure Roseola. She also said that she believes that her vomiting on Monday was probably due to the virus and to try bananas again. We did yesterday and she was perfectly fine!! I am over the moon about this. I was panicking about where to go from the last reaction, but feel confident that we can continue trying new things since she has been reaction free for 4 1/2 months. It's crazy to be thankful for two visits to the doctor, $40 in co-pays, a rash all over her sweet perfect skin, but I am. The girl loves bananas and now she can keep on loving them. Happy Day!!

Bad news...

yesterdays post was premature. Adelaide had her first reaction in over 4 months yesterday afternoon. Poor girl threw up 6 times after having a banana, something she has been having for 6 months. I am not really sure where to go next with food for her. It makes me terribly sad :-(

Pumpkin Patch

This weekend we ventured to Lake View Farms for our first family pumpkin patch adventure. It was a beautiful day and Addie was very happy looking around. We didn't end up getting any pumpkins (Smith will be getting us some from the ranch), but we did get some awesome photos.

I cannot believe how much of a person Adelaide is becoming. She understands a ton of things we say, and loves her dog more than anything! It honestly makes my heart hurt watching the two of them together. She has also been trying new foods with success! I am hoping we can get to a place where she eats the same things we are eating in the next few months. In the last week she has had cheese and Happy Baby Banana Puffs without any issues. I am one happy mama!!

Baby Buns....

because there is nothing sweeter in the world.

Oh and Yogurt was a success!! I have also given into the "cry it out" method. I can no longer sleep when there is a bed hog next to me half of the night. Tuesday was the first night, and it was absolutely terrible. I felt like a horrible mom. She cried HARD for 45min. Last night was a success, so I am feeling a lot better about it today. Sadly she has a little cold, and NoseFrida The Snot Sucker has been used. It. Is. Amazing.

ZOO

Addie and I had our first visit to the Zoo yesterday. It was really nice out, the cats were walking around, and she was a perfectly behaved little lady. All in all it was a wonderful day. To top it off she said MAMA!
Be still my heart.

P.S. We passed formula, and are moving on to yogurt. I am feeling better about trying new things now that we have that under our belt. Gotta get her ready for her birthday cake!

Making Connections

(Addie at her first visit to Fat City Cafe)

Our sweet girl has started figuring things out. She is now able to find her "baby" and get it to show you. This happened in about 2 hours. Apparently if you say baby over and over again she gets it. She is also crawling all over, pulling up on everything, and scooting around in a circle on her bum. Mike and I are mesmerized with everything she does. We took her on her 9th weekend get away to Oysterville this Labor Day weekend, and she was a perfect little lady the whole time. I'll be calling the doctor today to finally discuss supplementing with formula. I am scared to death of this. Wish us luck!

Making Friends

Addie and I attended story time at the Woodstock library on Saturday morning and it was A-MAZ-ING! I will start off by saying that my kid is extremely social. She was the only baby making very loud gremlin like noises during story time and introductions. Everyone found this amusing, so of course she kept doing it. I am hoping to join a moms group because she is so social. She would rather be out and about than at home. Go figure. I don't know anyone like this;)

7 months, teeth, and crawling!

It has finally happened. Addie has teeth. The first one poked its way through on July 1st, now there are two on bottom and one working its way in on top. I have been bit a few times, last night being the worst so far. Thankfully I was halfway asleep when it happened. In addition to teeth, Addie has figured out how to "army crawl". Yesterday was the first day where I sat her down and she worked her way back over to me wanting to be picked up. It is crazy how happy she makes me. She is an amazingly happy baby who loves to go out to dinner, shopping, and just leave the house in general. I could not ask for a better baby. We are approaching the really fun part of her growing up, and it freaks me out how fast it is going. I now get why people have a ton of kids. There really is nothing better in this world.

Mama Got a New Ride

We decided it was finally time to invest in a more family friendly car. I will not drive a minivan. I do not care that they are practical and all that jazz. Sorry moms, that is just me. I do LOVE my new ride! 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Adelaide is now riding in style.

Tulips and Easter!

Our Family enjoyed a trip to the Woodburn Tulip festival a few weeks ago and got some great photos of our little lady. She was happy the whole time we walked around, checking out all the flowers and really enjoying the experience. Mike and I both found the time enjoyable and will be back next year. However, on the drive down Mike did state that you only need to come once in your life. This will not be the case! I plan on bringing my little lady until she becomes a bratty teenager. I have accepted that this will happen.

We also enjoyed our first family Easter in the month of April. Church was attended, ears were worn, and lots of yummy food was consumed. Here are so super cute photos of both events, and a family picture to boot!

Food!

Addie has stated eating and loving it! She opens her mouth really wide when she sees the spoon coming near. So far we have had brown rice cereal, peas, avocado, and sweet potatoes. The green veggies are still a little iffy, but she is in to the other two. It's so fun feeding her! Her are some photos from the first encounter with rice cereal.
